The problem was in 3 bookmarks that each contained 30.000 values for a field, once those bookmarks were deleted the performance was ok again, but the shared file size didnt decrease, it stayed the same, which is strange.

Hello,

We have a slow performance issue with an application when opening it by Access Point.

We have made some tests, and we think the problem might be the shared file, for example if we have two copies of the same qvw in different folders, one folder (1) contains the qvw, shared file and meta file, and second folder (2) contains just the qvw. When opening the qvw on folder 1 it takes 24 seconds, but when opening the qvw on folder 2 it takes 5 seconds.

The performance is normal when using qvw from folder 2, but it’s very slow on folder 1.

The shared file on folder 1 is 260 mb, there are lots of user bookmarks.

Could this be the problem? If so, is there any solution that would maintain all the bookmark?

Thanks & regards.

Hello Daniel,

We are currently having a huge shared file and we suspect performance issues due to this. Is there a reference you can provide us on the above issue. I could not find anything on the server manuals regarding the shared files vs performance.

Hell Renuka,

In order to identify the bookmarks that were causing problems we used a tool called 'Shared file viewer', with that tool you can check the size of each of the bookmarks in the shared file, and also you can see the selections saved in those bookmarks.

Also once we deleted those bookmarks, we were able to decrease the size of the the shared file by defragmenting it using the tool 'Shared File Repair'.

Both those tools are available in the Power Tools 1.2 package. (Power Tools 1.2 for QlikView)

I hope this can help you.

Regards.
