Hi,

Mapping table is used where we have two fields in the mapping table and on the basis of the ID or any key fields we do apply map to the table for more see this example.

In MapTab there is Id and Description is available but this desc info is not in the fact table then we use the mapping table

MapTab:
Mapping LOAD * Inline
[
ID,Desc
1,Desc1
2,Desc2
3,Desc3
4,Desc4
];

Fact:
LOAD ApplyMap('MapTab',ID) as Desc ,* Inline
[
ID,Sales,Location
1,48741,L1
2,12369,L2
3,14852,L3
];

after this you get four fields on the basis of the ID field

Kinda excel vlookup(in 2 columns) equivalent to Qlikview.

you have the Mapping load part which is your vlookup Table_Array
