Incremental Load Query

Dear Community,

I have little confusion regarding Incremental load. I have tried to mention them below to be answered for better understanding;

1. Modified date/last saved date column is mandatory for incremental load?
2. Complete syntax process of incremental load will be very useful
3. It will be very helpful if i get the screenshots of any simple example of Incremental load
4. What if new columns added to the data base. Can we get those new columns aslo through Incremental load or there is any different way to get it.
5. I hope the above queries are clear and to the point.
