topic QMSEDX question in QlikView

QMSEDX question

Hello everyone,

I have downloaded QMSEDX.exe on DEV(version: 1.0.3.0). On prod, I have an old version ( version: 1.0.0.0). Now, I want the same version as Dev on Prod too. My question is that, for doing this migration, it is just copy the QMSEDX.exe from dev and paste it in the Prod or Do I have to download the same version on PROD too? Also, are there any others files that I should know of while migrating from DEV to prod that need to go along with QMSEDX file and QMSEDX.exe file?

Please suggest.

Aarohi,

The short answer is Yes, you just need to copy EXE and Config files to one common folder accessible from your server.

But you need to make sure that you are using a compatible QMSEDX version first. I think QV 11.2 SR5 and up requires the 1.0.3 version. I am not sure if it's backwards compatible.

And it's usually a good idea to use the same version of any app on DEV and PROD....

Thank you for the quick response.

I also want to know that when I downloaded the QMSEDX 1.0.3, I got a source folder too along with the QMSEDX file and QMSEDX.exe file. So, please suggest me if I have to copy any files from this source folder too?

No, you do not need these source files unless you want to modify the code and re-compile the app.
