Through folder-sharing, NTFS security settings for the folders, and Active Directory group membership. Sorry for the broad answer, but it's a pretty broad question! There are whole books and classes on server administration. This page does a pretty good job of explaining the basics: http://www.techexams.net/technotes/70290/permissions.shtml

Regards,

We currently have 2 administrators who require full access to develop, import data etc. We then have a further 18 users who access a variety of QV reports in a main folder on the server, which is then subdivided into departments.

Security is therefore required to deny access to all other areas on the server for those 18 users. I know this must be possible, but in simple terms how is this done?

We are using QV 9.
