Current selections object properties

We have a few sheets on a model, each with different information. We need to only show selections made on the active sheet to show in the Current selections box. I tried working with Triggers, and bookmarks, but you lose the selections when you want to go back to a sheet. In addition we do not want to see selections made on another sheet.

Is there a way to do this?

One option could be to use different alternate states on each of your sheet.

Would selections not still show on the other sheets. The information is different information, one is Budget info, one is ageing info etc, and they are not linked at all.

There is. And if you provide more detail and a sample qvw file, you will be able to get specific help.

Why not -- do you have special case that requires the selections in one sheet to differ? That is how Qlikview works.

Sunny is right. Alternate states has been introduced in QV for the benefit of not impacting the current selections in other tabs.

If the data on the sheets is not linked, how would selections in the one affect the other?

If you have a current selection box for a specific alternate state, it won't display current selections in other state.

So for an example, if you have three states (AS1, AS2, AS3) and your current selection box for AS1 will only show selections made in AS1 state.

Attached. There is no link between the data on the budget sheet and the Ageing sheet. and if i make a selection on the budget sheet, I do not want to see the selection on the other sheet as it does not apply to the Ageing sheet. With a simple example is maybe is not so obvious but if you have a multibox on each with a possible 10 or 15 selections on each, you do not want to show these on the other sheets.

I know the obvious answer is to separate the data into different models, but we are creating an overview model with 4 or 5 different sheets with information on each sheet which does not relate to the other data.

Thanks guys. I have had a look at alternate states. I thought it is only for comparisons, looks like it can be used just as well for the example I provided. I will have to do some testing
