I don't understand a thing of this discussion.

I only know that a STORE statement like this:

STORE table INTO DQIM_Metrics.QVD (txt);

will create a comma-separated-value file with a QVD extension. That may be why the file won't be recoqnized as a QVD when you try to load it in the Script Editor. Try with the "Delimited" file type, and see what you get in the import dialog.

On the other hand, saying that the content looks like HTML may mean that there is indeed XML content in the QVD file. As Bill already explained, a QVD file has an XML header that documents the fields and content details of the QVD. Because you say that you cannot import the "QVD" file as a QVD-formatted file, this leads me to think that there is only XML or HTML data in this file. Did you try a Script Editor import with these file types checked? They are available immediately above and below the QVD radio button...

There is no such thing as a Notepad file format. A notepad icon in Windows Explorer means that your file associations have gone haywire. Windows doesn't recognize files based on their content. That's a Unix thing.

It would be a big help if you could post a screenshot of Notepad with this so-called QVD loaded.

Peter

Hi Varun/all,

If i understand your question correctly, your requirement is to change back the original look and feel of the qvd file.

In order to do that, follow the below steps,

Right click on the qvd file--> Open with--> Choose another App-->Look for another app on this PC-->then you can browse to any qlikview application (by selecting All files option)--> open any application and close it .

Again go to .qvd file and right click -->open with --> you can find the .qvd original file format option just select and it will revert back the look and feel of your .qvd file .

Thanks and regards,

Rabbani Shaik

Hi,

just wanted to add my opinion here as well. There is no qvd with notepad format. The reason that qvd file shows the notepad icon is that notepad is the program assotiated with opening it in the windows system.

See what I mean in the attached images. What I did is I created a text file (.txt format). Then changed it's format to (.piggback) which caused it's icon to change to a white paper. When I opened it with notepad and choose to have notepad as the default program, the file icon changed to the notepad icon.
