Input sum function - distribution mode '/'

Can some one please explain how the Input sum with distribution mode '/' works?

I do not understand the below explanation from the help manual:

The value is divided equally between underlying values, without regard to previous distribution but keeping previous sum.

For example, I have an Year 2001 with Jan Sales 100, Feb Sales 100 and March Sales 100. I am using a inputsum( Sum(Sales),'/') as expression and Year as dimension in a straight table and then changing the value from 300 (100+100+100) to 400. How this value will get distributed among Jan, Feb and March?
