Controlling user's access on per sheet basis

Hey guys,

I'm currently looking for a solution that addresses the following problem.

We are using the API to generate security rules that will grant users access to targeted sheets.

The way we are currently doing this is by creating a Security Rule that has a resource filter with something of the form, "Stream_{id}, App_{id}, Sheet_{id}, Stream_{2nd-id}, App_{2nd-id}, Sheet_{2nd-id}, Sheet_{3rd-id}"

As you can imagine it gets thick fairly quickly, we can easily hit the 1024 character limit on the filter.

Ideally we'd like to assign a matching custom property to a sheet and a user from which we can apply a single security rule to grant access based on the custom properties.

The problem we run into is that Custom Properties are not available to App objects. I have seen that they are available on Apps themselves, but I'm looking to provide a more granular level of control/restriction.

Any approach that can help would be greatly appreciated.
