To track all the way out to an object might not be an easy task. I guess you could start analyzing the application xml files if you create prj-folders for all apps.

Alternatively there are products available on the market that extend the data lineage analysis . I saw a demo of the NodeGraph system a couple of months back, it does exactly what you're asking for. Check it out.

Hi,

this may well have been asked before and it may well not be possible in the slightest... but ill ask anyway...

so i have access to the Meta Reader Qvw of which i can load in a QVD and tells me the creator doc and the fields contained within that QVD...

but my question is:

is it possible in anyway to see the tracking of a field from start to finish... for example.

field a = 1 in raw file store in qvd.

load field a + 1 as field b store into transform qvd.

load field b end user app.

is there anyway to find that field b was created from field a but with a calculation added?

sorry for the long winded question, but would really help me map all fields and processes to define if fields are being duplicated and re-used across multiple apps.

thanks in advance

The only solution I know of that provides field level lineage for QV is NodeGraph.

-Rob
http://masterssummit.com
http://qlikviewcookbook.com
http://www.easyqlik.com
