In fact with 8.5 I had a case with current selection box not updated after a selection had changed; when changing sheet or resizing / minimizing / maximizing current selection box, the values were correct again. Perhaps that could also have something to do with it. Any case, I can't imagine you're doing something wrong (unless there's some mystical macro running in the background ;-).
