Version 3.9 of QlikView Document Analyzer is available for download here:

This version includes the following updates.

- A prj directory is no longer required to get full analysis. The prj recommendation is removed from the Main sheet.
- Changed Per User memory calc from Type=Field State to Class=State Space. This is the correct number,which is larger than previously shown.
- Added contribution from Marcel Hug to analyze use of Module Subs and Functions.

Hi Rob,

First of all thank you so much for the Document Analyzer, its much needed for all QlikView Developers.

We have seen that Document Analyzer 3.9 do not run successfully on windows server (2012 or 2016). While running against even small document (20-30 Mb) it simply Hangs and get into never responding mode.

We have folks on development server who develops with April 2019 SR3 and check DA for optimizing dashboard further.

My Observation :

I observed in DocumentAnalyzerExtract.log that It starts extraction but it seems to stuck with Container Objects , I may be wrong though.

Process gets stuck at extraction only

Enabled QV Desktop Errors - but it does not generate any errors

Are there any changes required with DA , to use it with April 2019 SR3? What else can we investigate to troubleshoot this further.

How to resolve this one 🙂

Appreciate suggestions on this.

There appears to be a problem with DA hanging on QV April 2019 SR2 and SR3. Other releases, including April 2020 are fine. I'll take a look and see if I can resolve the issue.

Hi Rob,

When running the analyzer I get this error:

Permission denied on line 1103 Set openOutputFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile (filename, ForWriting, True, -1)

Could you please help?

That error usually comes about when the permissions of the temp folder get messed up. Delete the folder at

C:\Users\userid\AppData\Local\Temp\qvwork\yourqvw\

and try again.

I deleted the folder, but still get the same error.
I also tried to change the Atrtibutes of the folder.

1. Does the module have System Access? (Ctrl-m > Requested Module Security)

2. Does it fail when analysing any qvw, or just this qvw?

1. It has System Access and all macros are allowed.

2. It fails for any QVW. I just tried with a new qvw with only one table and:
- on the first run the error is:
Object doesn't support this property or method: 'sheet.GetProperties.StateName'
on line 665 sheetsFile.WriteLine( _
- on the second run the error is:
Permission denied
on line 1103 Set openOutputFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile (filename, ForWriting, True, -1)

There appears to be a problem writing to your temp folder. As a workaround:

1. Create a new directory like "c:\dawork"

2. Open the DA module (Ctrl-m) and change line 1046 from

GetOutputDir = GetTempPath & "\qvwork\" & basename & "\"

GetOutputDir = "c:\dawork\" & basename & "\"

Save the DA qvw and retry.

Unfortunately that does not work either.
I will try it on another computer and see if I get the same errors.
From what I have read online, it could have something to do with the admin rights, but that would be strange since my Windows user has Administrator privileges.
