Immemorial problem. Value on last day of month

Greetings to all!
I need help. 2 hours has spent for nothing.
The following formula doesn't work:
Sum ({<Date = {$ (= Max (Date))}>} SumDebt)

There is 2 tables of dimension: Date, Customer and 1 table fact: customers debt.
It is necessary to receive value "customers debt" on last date of month.

Where I could be mistaken?

Is your date defiantly a date and not a string?

It may look like a date if you have overridden the number format in your charts but unless you have

date(Date) as Date,

in your load script, QV may well just interpret it as a string, especially if it's from a QVD
