Splitting Data

Hello,

I was hoping that you can hel me, I am trying to sort out some data that has come out of an array - I have split the original data using the following:

Subfield(FIELD,'_',Iterno()) as FIELD,

num(Iterno(),'00') as FIELD_DESC
Resident tempdata
WHILE
iterno()<substringcount(FIELD,'_')+2;

Which is half the battle, however, what I want to do now is split the data further, as the information has been inputted in the format of 11120091201, the first three digits and the last date segment is what I need splitting up. The data at the start will always be 3 digits, so I need to specify in my script that the delimeter to be the first three digits... Does anyone know how I can attempt to achieve this?
