topic new user, questions about renaming record data in QlikView

We are experimenting with using Qlikview before purchasing, coming from Hyperion Intelligence Explorer. Currently I am able to group result set items or use JavaScript to rename or calculated based on result data. I am having issues figuring out how to rename records pulled back from our Oracle database so our chart viewers can better understand them. From other forum posts I see suggestions regarding "reload" and other scripting expressions. Currently I've pasted a multi-table query into the script editor, which DOES bring back the right data. What do I need to do or use to begin editing the actual results that come in for charts, tables, etc? I will gladly take any sugestions or documents I need to read.
