Need expression or script edit for bar chart count

Hello,

I'm looking to create a bar chart that gives a daily snap shot of what happened with our policy retention. The chart itself is pretty simple in that it sums or counts new policies (1+1+1+1=4) and counts or sums policies lostn (-1+-1+-1+-1=-4).

I have a list of policies on a daily basis that shows total volume and have a small example below of what is in the script

PIF:

Directory;

LOAD ChannelGroup,

Polnum,

PolicyType,

InforceAsOfDate

FROM ...

My question is what sort of edit to the script would I need to make to have a field that would have a value to count/sum on a daily basis for new policies and also a field that woould count/sum lost policies. They wouldn't be there prior to a date as a new policy is given a new pollicy number.

Any ideas?
