Alternate States (drill down versus cyclic)

I have a chart that compares sales from one period to another period.

The overall app is in the default state. This means that the dimension is in the default state.

one period is in [Alternate State 1]

the other period is [Alternate State 2]

I have separate date selectors for each state.

This works perfectly when using a drill down but does NOT work when I use a cyclic.

I have one dimension (with cyclic) and one expression. The calculation for the expression is as follows

COUNT({[Alternate State 2]<[Call Type] = {'Inbound'}>} DISTINCT [SalesID])
-
COUNT({[Alternate State 1]<[Call Type] = {'Inbound'}>} DISTINCT [SalesID])

Any Ideas?
