I have a chart with many expressions that I want to limit to a certain selection. Instead of having to alter each expression with set analysis to force that selection, is there a way apply a selection(s) to an entire chart but not globally?

You could consider using Alternate states for that (available since QV11).

Create a alternate state in Settings - Document properties, then set the chart and the list boxes needed to this state (use the option in chart properties - general tab).

Not sure that will help unless there is a way to explicitly assign a selection to a alternate state. Is there a way?

Not sure if I understand correctly, but probably yes.

If you post some more details or even better a small sample app, I think someone around can help you with the syntax.

Thanks for the help swuehl, but I found a solution by using a calculated dimesion filtering out only the rows I wanted.
