Prior Year vs Current Year Pivot

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to put together a pivot that's a little different from the norm, and could use some best practice advice.

For this one, I need periods for the Prior Year and Current Year to alternate, and still function with base-year filtering. So, the header row would look something like this:

Jan-2012 Jan-2013 Feb-2012 Feb-2013 Mar-2012 Mar-2013

One option is to use a straight-table and create dynamic columns, but I'd really rather maintain the flexibility of a pivot for expanding/collapsing, and subtotals. Also, I've been trying to create an offshoot table from the Calendar table, to serialize this mixed-year layout, but it's not going as smoothly as I'd hoped.

Any ideas or tricks?

Thanks, Nirav, and especially for your quick response.

Unfortunately, this solution does not alternate just Prior Year and Current Year from a larger data set, and I also need it to show PY/CY for a selected Year. (Ex. 2012 - 2013, when 2013 is selected.)

Please let me know if you have any ideas for this.
