I want to make it so that if someone makes a selection in a qvw on one dashboard that selection is automatically made on another users screen who is looking at a different qvw. For example, one dashboard is showing products bought by date and another is showing store performance by date. If a date is selected on the products bought dashboard then another screen displaying the shops performance is automatically filtered to show data for the same date.

I don't think it's possible do to it exactly like this.

You could try to use QV 11 Collaborative sessions. Users would see the same dashboards but they would share selections:
