How to apply OR filter between two columns in a table?

Hi,

I am having an issue with setting OR filter between two columns. I am having one fact table having the following columns and having million of records.

Key

col1

col2

type

We need to do the following steps choose right data set for the business purpose.

1. Filter the total dataset using type column.

2. The user will select range for the col1 and col2. But these ranges needs to applied on dataset using OR filter (union of col1 & col2)

How do we get OR filter between two column ranges?

Hi,

what kind of data are there in Column 1 and Column 2.

If its a date field then its rather simple we can implement is using max and min of selected date for both the column 1 & 2.

But if data is different than dates, we shall need a sample application or example

so that we could help you.
