Help combining data onto same row

Hi all,

i have some 2018 and 2017 data, both in separate QVDs, Both QVDs have sales data for the corresponding years. have renamed the sales fields in the 2017 load to be LY instead of TY but i am having trouble joining them correctly.#

the result i need is for a user to select a date in 2018 and be able to see the sales for that dat plus the slaes for the same period last year on the same row.

at the moment i am getting a portion of the sales on the same row then the remainder is against a null date.

can anyone help please?

i have attached some sample data, i have also attached a calendar QVD in case the issue is because of the dates.

i had to join the calendar onto the first table to ensure all of the dates were there.
