Has anyone used QlikView with Freshbooks time tracking data?

Hi, Debbie.

I haven't used it myself but I'm aware that you can download data from Freshbooks as a .csv or excel spreadsheet. You can use this as a source for your QlikView app.

If you are looking to extract the time data I would recommend contacting Freshbooks directly to find out the best method of extracting time data

Not necessarily.

If Freshbooks can automate the delivery of data to a spreadsheet, you could schedule a QlikView app in a QlikView server to pick this up.

It really does depend on Freshbooks being able to regularly produce the data. Contact them on their website and see what they can do for you.

Hi, In Qlikview we can load the data from html pages or excel files on the share point site.

So you don't need download the excel files from freshbooks and we can directly load the excel file urls into qlikview.

Freshbooks does not allow QlikView to pull the data directly. I reached out to them already. If using Sharepoint, you would still have to have Freshbooks export the files to Sharepoint.

Or am I not understanding your response?

Generally in sharepoint we create the folder and add the excel files to those folder. If we want load the data from share point excel files, we don't need to download to files into disk.

As per your comments, we can't directly load the excel files from freshbooks. So we need to create the bat file to download the excel files into disk location after that we can load those files into qlikview.

1. Create the bat file to download the files from freshbooks into disk.

2. call this bat file in the qlikview script

3. Load the files into Qlikview reports.

Unfortunately I am looking for a timekeeping product, besides SFDC, that has direct connect with QV. I don’t want to have to deal with the extra steps. Back to searching for a simple time keeping SaaS product that QV can pull data from rather than pushing it out to QV.

Hi Debbie, I had a quick look at the Freshbooks API docs and I think the QVSource General Web Connector should be able to pull the data directly into QlikView. If you would like to explore this approach feel free to ping me directly .
