hi guys

PFA Data (dummy) and model.

I have been tasked to develop a solution for a very complex system. And I honestly dont know where to start. The attached model is a simple example of what a small part of the model exists of.

My questions are (and excuse if they are stupid questions...)

1. How do I identify a fact table? That sounds simple - but it isnt always. In my example - Agent_Buyer_Relationship also looks like a fact table! I have been told that if I hover over a field in a table (in Table Viewer mode) - if the tooltip says "Key" it is most probably a fact table - which field should say "Key"?

2. The issue of concatenate vs link table...wouldn't know (because of issue 1 above) - what to concat or link

I will gladly provide my real - life solution on request - just cannot do it here for security issues.

I am overwhelmed by the amount of tables (especially nervous of the Agent_Buyer kind of tables - as I dont know what to do with them?

All advice appreciated.

Lorna

Hi Lorna

I hope you may find all the solutions for your task.

In a glance at your model, I wonder why not to "join" tables Agent_Buyer_Relationship and Viewings... but you knows...

And one thing always worthy when modeling (even in Qlik environment) is to reach to the "Bible": The Data Warehouse Toolkit, Kimball, with all the expertise and tips oriented for all kind of businesses...
