Hi,

In the list box AND option is disbaled. How to enable it or in which scenario it will get disabled.

HI XXX,

Just tick the 'show alternatives' in general tab, then remove the tick off, then the AND mode will be enabled.

Enabling the and-mode is not that easy. The fact that the checkbox is enabled after playing with other checkboxes is probably a bug since that alone doesn't activate the and-mode functionality. You also have to load the column in a certain way in the load script. Read the following blog post for more information:

Still, it does not get enabled. I checked this in QV 9.0 SR5.

hey raj, i am using QV 9.0 SR2. It works for me.

Just Tick the "show alternatives" option and then uncheck it. automatically it gets enabled.

Although it is true that the AND-mode checkbox is enabled by checking and unchecking the Show Alternatives checkbox and it appears in the listbox that the option is enabled because you get the symbols '&' and '!' with the colors green and red in the listbox, the listbox is still in OR mode and AND-mode with NOT be truly enabled unless you do as instructed in the data model.

Actually, the AND-mode checkbox is automatically enabled when QlikView detects that the field you've selected fits the proper conditions for AND-mode to work. You should not have to do this trick which appears to be a programming mistake in QlikView.

I've attached an example of the AND-mode functionality.

HI XXX you can use and mode to follow these rules.

The and mode option is only allowed under very strict conditions,
imposed by the theory behind the QlikView logic. In order to be
used in and mode, the field must:
- exist in only one logical table,
- be the second field of only two fields in that table and
- contain no duplicate records.
- it must be proceeded by a distinct qualifier.

Imagine you have a listbox of products. Normally, when you select multiple products QlikView shows you all the customers that purchased at least one of those selected products. This is called the Or-mode.

Now when you have the And-mode implemented and you select multiple products QlikView shows you all the customers that purchased every product that is selected.
