Change in values when dimensions are drilled into

Good Day All,

I Am new to Qlikview and I am using the following set analysis expression to obtain a distinct count to measure Volumes:

sum( {< FIN_YR_NO = {$(vDate_MaxYear)} >}Aggr(sum(DISTINCT Counter ),ApplicationID))

I have attached images also to show what I am experiencing.

However when I drill or cycle onto a dimension the value changes. any idea why?

Whenever I have an oddity in my calculations, I throw in a table with the raw data and list boxes of all the fields used in the calculations. When I do the drill, I can see what data is being used in the calculation. Generally it is not what I was expecting.
