How to make a dashboard

I was a student, I enroll into a new company and the company is giving me a test to create a dashboard of Qlikview application given to me. I have never heard what it was Qlikview and I do not understand how to make the dashboard. Can you help me how do I be making the dashboard? for your attention I say thank you.

First of all (even use Qlikview) must to understand what they need as a dashboard. Maybe, the requirements are so simple that is not neccesary use Qlik (is enough with an Excel).

The second is to understand and find the datasources, and try to get the info with this datasources.

And then do that sergio0592 say and start to use Qlik.

But can you help me to give a description of what it is dashboard and how construction of the dashboard using excel files?. Because i need to submit the test 3 days later sir.

I say thanks to Mr.Jean and Mr.Jose for the answer,

But the company just wanted to find out how deep my understanding about the product (qlikview) and how far I can make dashboard (based on the results of my analysis) and send these to the company dashboard model. They didn't mention the dashboard what I wake up and what is the reason for its construction.

They gave me 6 data excel file. And I am confused what should I do in that application. Can you give a description of what it is dashboard and how construction of the dashboard using excel files.

And I'm sorry but if you want to do it in Qlik, you must to learn Qlik, and use the books and web pages that the people said.

In my opinion, you can design a dashboard with the data even in paper or power point or using a tool like this: QlikSense-Tools for prototyping and demonstrate that you know what a dashboard is. And then take more time to build it in Qlik.

Hi Rosdiana,

You should understand what a dashboard is and how it helps the company with their reporting. Looks like there are some good links above to catch you up. But you'll need to learn qlikview before you can create a dashboard and I'm not sure you have the time to do that.

I would suggest you start off learning basics such as loading data from excel into a qlik document. As regards to creating charts it will be difficult without knowing how to write expressions. If you wanted to learn, try learning some basic expressions to present the data within charts.

Just a note on the test the company is giving you. From my experience companies do tests like these to see how much you know and not necessarily to complete the task for them. Sometimes being honest is the best response. Saying I don't know qlikview, but in the 3 days this is what I've learnt and have produced. Often if a company likes you as a candidate, may be impressed with your honesty and willing to hire and train you in the application.
