No screenshot seen here. Can't tell if you are getting the error in the reload or on the user session.

QV reload expects that a user may be in session with the document. There are several refresh options available on how to handle an updated document. See the Help for "graceful refresh" Document Properties: Server ‒ QlikView

You can trigger a reload externally such as when an external process is complete. The feature is called "EDX" and it documented here Using EDX in QlikView 11

-Rob

http://masterssummit.com

http://qlikviewcookbook.com

Good day,

I am new to QlikView and have been asked to investigate why a QlikView document / model gives a Unexpected Exception error. (See attached screenshot)

The model is set to reload every 30 minutes and I think this happens when the reload is in progress and a user tries to access it.

Does this sound plausible, and if so, how should one go about doing such "real-time" model reloads keeping in mind that a user(s) might be working with the model at the time?

Secondly, the 30 minute interval / schedule looks to be a result of the developer not knowing when the data has been updated.

Apart from the scheduling technique, is there a way to externally / programatically / etc. trigger a reload via a process outside of QlikView? (This way we can only trigger a reload as and when data changes instead of the every 30 minutes polling approach)

Thanks in advance

Neil
