topic Reports in QlikView

Hi,

I am trying to create the report through the Report menu with the Current Selection option. But when i am trying to run the report it is showing message Report is empty it will not print. But actually i have selections. Do i need to write a macro or how to resolve the issue.

Do you have a report defined with objects on it?

If you have these objects in your QVW and these objects are filled, the same object on the report is also filled the same.

Hi Anita,

Thanks for your response.

I didnt define any object for the Report. I have chossen the Current Selection. In my qvw file there are many objects.

Can u please tell me how to define the object for the Report. i hope if i am choosing the Current selection all the objects should be there in the report.

If you have your QVW document opened in development there is a menu Report->EditReports.

Here you can Add a new report (or change existing reports) for the QVW.
When having the report opened in development (Edit) you can drag items from the QVW to your report.
Also you can add texts etc etc.

Now when trying to print a report (ofcourse select the report of you wishers) with the current selection should give a decent report.

Thanks Anita,

It is working if Report is in the Edit option and drag the object in to Report. But the same cant be done when it is accessed through Web.

Is there any settings has to be changed or macros has to be written for the same???? for the Accesspoint.

Through the web users can select the reports which are saved for the QVW ... this way they have always the same report.

If you save your report in development mode, the user can open this report via the menu.
You could also create a button or something which opens the report.

But the data will remain static if i drag the object to the Report. It will not be current selection..

I have a Query Is it the way the Qlikview Report works ? . Once again thanks for your patience response.

The object contains the current selection in the report, just like on the qlikview document itself.

I don't know what else the current selection should mean, but as far as my concerns it is the selection made in the qlikview document ... the report contains always exactly the same selection.

There is also a possibility to use bookmarks on the reports itself.

So the data is not static but exactly the selection made.

Thanks Anita,

I am trying that but now i got struck up with another issue. I have done as u said i dragged the object in to the report and saved the QVW file and i tried to access point using the Ajax client. When i select the Report it says PDF printer not found. But the thing i am able to print the independent PDF files. either in the server i have installed the Qlikview or the system i am trying to access through the web.

The document can be printed ... if the user has PDF it can also be saved as PDF.

There are also a lot of posts of PDF and email by using macros ... try looking for a solution in this matter ... (also able to select reports in this) ... in this way the current selection is also taken into account ...

Thanks Anita for your kind resposne to help me to get the solution,

I have written the macro to export to PPT and mail it. It works fine with the Server since the macro has the code directly triggers the mail through SMTP server. but that is not best practice since we will not be able to enable all the IP'S to trigger mail.As it should redirect to the email configured in the server so that it will redirect or send the mail . I am missing that macro and i am not able to find the same in the forum(Almost i searched the whole forum).

I'm also looking for a neat way of creating a pdf ans send it by mail ...

I can't seem to find the correct solution so far ...

Did you use QlikviewPDF?? (might want to share the solution??)
