I have watched couple if videos on user creation of qlikview. But in an organization if there are requests for user creation then how is it done.

Hi,

Is LDAP Configured in your qlikview server?, if not follow below url steps (LDAP provides a list of users that can be used to configure CAL assignment and document authorization.) Windows using Active Directory (AD). Create a new user in Active Directory, assign a QlikView license to that user in the QMC and grant document permissions

1) System -> Licenses-> Qlikview Server-> Client Access Licenses -> Assigned Cals -> Add required users

2) To grant document access to users

QMC -> Documents -> User Documents-> Select the Document-> Authorization-> Click on + Symbol -> Select Named Users and add the required users.

Dear Karan,

You need to understand how QlikView Authentication and Authorization works.

Authentication : For this you need to use the Directory Service Connection to link Qlik with AD or LDAP.

Authorization : To restrict User to see what they are authorized to see (Which we call in Qlik as Section Access).

Thanks a lot guys for your inputs.

But if i need to restrict a group of users to see only the sales of Agra, then do i need to use section access or QMC.

You can create Section Access in the QMC, so with your or-or question you may be depriving yourself from some nice features of the QlikView environment.
