Aspiring Developer essentials

Hi everybody!

I am a QlikView enthusiast and an aspiring developer.

I was wondering if there is a single source of truth on how to become a QlikView developer? I am trying to get my head around the essentials to be a successful developer for e.g. certification etc.?

Please please can seasoned developers quantify/throw some light on minimum must-have skills and experience e.g. ETL, Data modelling, SQL etc.1-3 years of development experience from an employers perspective?

Hi,

Yer i would advise the training courses, then getting some experience actually developing some dashboards. I think they say a year or two experience if best before trying the exams.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Any chance you could expand on skill set i.e. minimum must-have skills for e.g. SQL, data modelling etc.? Is external training and certification mandatory to get one's foot in the door?

Not sure who "they" are, but that sounds like complete overkill. 3 till 6 months of experience is more then enough to be able to get Qlik certified. Doing the training could reduce this time even.

Note that these are averages. We have had people with 3+ year experience and still failing, though this usually is due to either not speaking the certification languages (there are 8 available) as a first language or never learned the actual way of how you should work with Qlik software.

If you are working for a partner and they can get you a job at a customer, no need.

Trying it as self-employed? Face it:

Would you hire someone without any related experience and certifications? I would take the person who knows what he is doing.

No, I am not working for a partner - how do one go about it?

I have come across QlikView jobs on many jobsites where the spec do not mention certification - is that a norm now or am i missing something?
