Hi All, i have a SQLplus DB running on Linux machine which i usually access via command line. SO i do SSH into it via putty and then go into SQL. I have been using SQL Developer to read tables but i always need to create SSH tunnel first and port forward to my localhost on port 47000. I am a bit confused on how to create Qlik connection based on server address = localhost, port 47000

thanks in advance

QlikView can connect to RDBMS using either ODBC, OLEDB or a Custom Connector. Which of these three are you planning to use?

Peter

So you want QlikView running on a Windows machine to connect to an Oracle RDBMS running on Linux via ODBC and all the while running DB communications through an SSH tunnel?

QlikView doesn't care about how you set-up your network. ODBC does the talking with your database, but offers not features to start a VPN or SSH tunnel on every connection attempt. And if you want ODBC to connect at all, you'll need a domainname or an ip-address of your Database server to connect to.

I think there are better, more efficient ways to get hold of data than what you propose, especially if the data volume may be large.

Peter
