Connect Qlikview Server to database

Hi All,

First of all, please bear with me a minute for asking a silly question as I am completely new to Qlikview server. I don't even have a chance to see a demonstration of the Qlikview server.

I know that in order to create a QVD file based on data from a database, I need to use Qlikview Desktop to create an application that use either ODBC or OLEDB to connect to the database and . Than suppose I need to connect to an Oracle database. If I use ODBC, should the Qlikview server, also need to have the same ODBC connection name. If I use OLEDB, should the server also have the corresponding driver to connect to the Oracle database?

Also, what I need to read a file from an excel application, should the server need to have access to the excel file?

You can install your personal edition in your server then develop in the server or if you develop on the other machine just make sure your connection string/folder is valid when you move to the server.

For connect to oracle you can use qlik odbc connector, in qlik odbc connector have odbc driver for oracle.
