What should I choose ?

Hi all,

I am doing my internship at a company and i have to implement a reporting dashboard system. I'm new to Qlik and i'm a little bit confused on how to start with this. The database i'm going to be using is a MySQL database and the dashboard system should be accessible by the internet. Should I use Sense or View ? Or even something else?

Think hard about who the users are and what the need to be able to do with the dashboard(s).

Both products will do the job, for internship, my answer depend on what you already have in the company:

If the company already using Qlikview server then better go for it, you can publish your document on the server and let users visualize it also on internet.

If the company has neither QV nor QS, then i will recommend for internship to take a look on QS cloud platform for quick easy and even free small app sharing.

Hey Maurice, thanks for answering.

So the situation is like these. Several years ago another Intern implemented a Pentaho management cockpit. Now the time has come to look at other options and look at other vendors like Qlik & Tableau.

I have to rebuild the same cockpit/dashboards in Qlik and in Tableau and then we can choose which looks best and which has the best quality.

Is there a way I can use a free trial of Qlik Cloud with using my own datasource or will i need to purchase one of the products to be able to fully use is.

Hi,

Check with your company, they have Qlikview Server or Qliksense Server. Both can be used to publish to Internet. Based on the server type available in your company you take decision on Qlikview/Qliksense.

Qlikview is easy to learn and supports SQL as well. If you have Qlikview server , you can build cool data visualization tools on web.

If you want free trail of Qlik Cloud then you go for Qliksense. Qliksense has cloud option for free with some limitations like Max 5 users, Max file size is 25 MB.

Yes you can just download Qliksense to create your testing app and use FREE cloud option to upload your app in the Qlik cloud platform for sharing with max 5 persons.

my better option is QlikView is better for you.

Because it is very easy to learn comparatively QS

QV User Interface is also very good comparatively QS

Hi Wouter,

On Qlik cloud platform the key is the storage you are using.

In Qlik Sense your App is a .qvf file, so depending on it size and the number of users you would like to share with, you will have to be ok with Free version or jump to "Plus" option capacity.

Your application better be created locally where your database lives and once the App created you can upload it to the cloud platform for people to visualize.
