I've been thinking that I would like a method to document the source database that I am extracting data from to load into QlikView. This would help me as I build up an understanding of the data structure of a database that I haven't worked with before (and which often does not have any documentation). Currently this is all scribbled on pieces of paper and I'd like to be more organised than that.

I'm interested to know what other people do. Can anyone recommend software tools that they have worked with? I'm not even sure what functionality exists in these tools that would be of most use.

Any thoughts?

Same need here, right now I'm validating XMind, but I'm not sure that it has what I need.

I need a tool that - in the end - can (for example) tell me which QVW is using which QVD, and vice versa .... Can Visio solve that kind of questions? - I need to document an installation that contains 500 QVW's using almost 300 QVD:s / Excelfiles and various textfiles.

The Metadata solution requires QV10, right?

Hi,

The one which you found at the link, is created in QV v.10. But it will be compitible with version 9 as well..

What version you are using..

Dear Robert,

There is a difference between Metadata Tool and Data Modelling Tool.

Metadata Toos is related to only data dictionary But Data Modelling tool handle transformation of data.

which is process of ETL.
