Hi Experts,

There are so many functions in qlikview and i see that there are various ways to build a expression.

What are the starndard steps i can follow while choosing the function for my requirement?

Function are designed to achieve a specific result...

It depends on the requirement, which function would be suited for particular calculation

Hi Suraj,

Functions usage is depends on the requirement. why because String functions are not same as Number functions as well as Date functions.

You need to learn all functions else if you have bit idea then you can search in Google or QV Help guide.

best example is if you want the output is 4 u can write like 2 *2 else 1+3 else 5-1,if (A>0,((4/4)*4))...etc here you need to choose the way depends on available fields.

I Understand what you mean.

I think we need to build the expression keeping the end result in mind.

i think it would be nice if someone write a blog with some guideline to build the expressions for various purposes like

Layout conditional

chart expressions

in actions, etc
