access to user documents

hi all,

how can I give access to a user document through QEMC? when I clicked on the document under user documents... on the right hand side any add button to give access to an existing user...

please suggest..

do you have publisher?

if yes go to source documents tab and in the distribute tab of the task you can add recipients

if no and the security is NTFS yuo have to add permission in the file system (folder or file=document); right click, properties, security tab

I assume you have already set the license for the user

To assign a Document CAL, go to the QEMC, Documents,

1) Click on the document you want the users to access, and on the right side window, you will see a tab "Document CALs".

2) Then, add your users in the form DOMAIN\USERNAME

Wait for 24 hours to get this reflected...

Hi maxgro/sreeni,

I did the way maxgro mentioned as I do not find the Daocument CALs tab as sreeni mentioned.

Can you tell how do I confirm whether that the user has been added to the document?

and secondly what is server objects authentication and how do I give access to a chart ,table etc for a specific user?

iam looking access rights as the user has already qlikview installed on his m/c.. so when he tries file> open in server >he should be able to see the document and open it

Download option should be enabled and the user should have a named Call to download qvw and open in Qlikview on desktop.

hi sreeni,

not able to follow what you have put in you message..

basically I need to give access to a document .

the user already has qlikview installed in his machine.. Already he has access to several reports.

so when the user open qlikview and go to file> open I server.. he can see several reports which he is already have access to.

Now I need to give him access to another qvw document..

the above is my issue

sorry, if my explanation wasn't providing any help for you..

just thought of asking basic question again here..

what kind of license does the user currently have? is it Named CAL or Document CAL?

it is a named cal-- the user is added under users>licences>assigned CAL,s

But then I go to the documents tab I don't find anywhere document CAL's even after selecting a document

Have you mounted your folder

If you are using QV 11 then go to

System-->Qlikview Server- Select Server -->Folders and the folder path here

Also, double check your authentication, whether it is NTFS or DMS

yes folder is mounted on C drive and

I can see only one last option is restart your services, as many times this would be one issue..

If we restart the services, we can sometimes see that issue will be resolved automatically. As i can see nothing wrong in assignment of document.. its just server is not responding!!

I need to check with the admin for this. I have one more question.. what is this server objects? and how can I allow creation of server objects to a user?
