Dates on different tables same dimension

Probably a very basic question but can't make this work:

I have 2 tables that represent events ocurred in a certain date. No relation between them. I have a date field in both tables with diffrent column name.

I want to plot on a unique date axis(x) the sum(table1.field1) and sum(table2.field2) in same chart.

How can this be achivied? How can i make a common time dimension to both tables? Tried to create a common calendar to both columns but forces me to choose table for the dimension. (I want common tieme diemnsion)
