Adding external users

Hi Experts:

Please note, the server I am working on, has a SBE license of QVS.

1. It has only 5 CAL's allowed

2. DSC and QVWS are disconnected.

The client wants to give access to external users.

Can you please give some idea what should I do to add external users?

Hi Shafi,

SBE is limited to use Windows authentication. As long as external users have a valid user in the Active Directory, they will be able to login.

Ahammad,

SBE can authenticate only Windows NTFS users. In case of Enterprise Edition, you can use the Qlikview DMS authentication.

Solution could be setting up the users in your AD and have them VPN into your network.

That is - if you want SSO to work for external users as well.

If not, put a second QVWS in the DMZ and grant access to the AP. External users will get a login prompt.

Not very secure though...

I forgot to add that although technically possible, that could be a violation of the License Agreement. There is a specific license for external users, the QlikView Extranet Server. I suggest you make sure getting in touch with your closest Qlik sales rep or partner manager.

I have stopped adding external users to AD. I am contacting Qlik Sales rep and based on his response I will proceed accordingly and update the result here.
