Alert measure labels do not recognize variables

I have multiple apps with reports containing measures that are based on variables. Both expression and label are derived from an Excel-sheet so they can be managed centrally. Each app loads the Excel-sheet and takes the appropriate measures and creates an expression-variable and a label variable for each expression.

This works perfectly, except when a end-user want to create an alert, the end-user will see the variables as the potential measures to add. The variables are not calculated into values as in the report.

Is this intended or are there any plans to support variables here?
