Hi everyone, (Apologies in advance if this is not the right section for this topic!)
I’ve recently been running some tests combining the Qlik MCP Server with Google Antigravity.
My idea is to use the LLM to automatically generate bilingual glossaries (in English and French) for different Qlik applications. The LLM defines and gives meaning to our data fields, and the MCP Server then writes this metadata directly back into Qlik.
My ultimate goal is to fully automate this glossary creation process. By building this rich layer of context, I'm hoping to significantly improve the AI's accuracy and understanding for when we eventually allow our end-users to ask natural language questions through the Qlik MCP Server.
I’m curious to get the community's perspective on this:
Has anyone else experimented with a similar approach for automating metadata or glossaries? If so, what was your experience?
If not, what are your general thoughts on this use case? Do you foresee any specific challenges or limitations?
Looking forward to hearing your insights!
Hi @quentinba,
Fantastic topic. I have extended experience with the Qlik MCP Server and building the metadata layer to improve context for LLM's.
This is the sequence that I usually follow:
1. Populate the Datasets metadata: Qlik MCP Server only supports the Description and Tag. Metadata at field level you will have to use the UI.
2. Create Data Products and populate the metadata.
3. Now you can go for the Business Glossary or the Dashboard Application.
If you take the Dashboard first, you can create the Master Dimensions and Measures and next, add the Business Glossary associated to them - this is my preferred way.
Other things that will improve your application metadata - not covered by the Qlik MCP Server:
One tip about using the Qlik MCP Server when you have a large number of tables and fields. Do it in batches. If you try to do everything at once, your LLM will hallucinate, no matter how good it is.
Regards,
Mark Costa
