App/Sheet Documentation

Hi,

Any thoughts on how best to document an App and all the sheets within an App.

Initially I used to add details to the App description such as where the data originates from, which reload tasks are run etc etc. However, this area for adding information is very limited and over time I neglected to update it.

What's the best practice for documenting and making something available for users which is user friendly and searchable? It would be better if it was generated automatically within Qlik. I don't think any of the Monitoring Apps is the answer.

The more apps that are developed and the more reports(sheets) within them can add to the confusion. Only by accessing each app can the sheets be viewed and hence reports are hidden away.

I'm often getting asked which report should I use for this ...

I've tried creating an excel spreadsheet of useful info and loaded it into the Everyone directory, but I'm not really happy with this approach either.

So, any good ideas would be appreciated please.

Thanks

I toyed with an idea of maintaining information for Apps, but sheets is more difficult. I haven't seen a way to get the SheetName or SheetId without using API calls, which are cool, but they are outside of the scope of most reasonable techniques.

Thanks for the reply Justin, as you said, it's sounds like it might be too difficult to easily implement unfortunately.
