Dynamic table based on data islands

Hi

A long time ago, when Qlik Sense did not exist, I saw a post that made excellent use of data islands, but I can't find it anymore. 😞
An end user could select expressions and dimensions from a selection field, and a table would be filled in with that selection. The expressions and dimensions were stored in Excel and loaded as a data island. The table held variables that would be filled in with the selected dimensions and expressions.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? 🙂

I had that post tagged back on the old forum together with other posts. Is that tagging available somewhere?

I believe I've found something similar ... https://qlikcentral.com/2015/12/09/user-controlled-charts-in-qlikview/

I could only take a quick look but the idea is the same.

Thx but I think I've got my answer with my own reply 🙂

This example is a good start but this isn't as future proof as I was looking for. You need to add all dimensions and measures and then make it conditional. You don't want to do this if you have a lot (100+) of measures. A more dynamic solution would fit better.
Have a look at my post to see what I mean 🙂
