Ghost Task

Hello Guru,

On a customer's on-premise Qlik Sense November 2023 environment, until recently there was a task that updated an app that generated a qvd. Task and app have since been deleted, but the qvd continues to be generated.
On the “Reloads Monitor” app, there is no record of any task running at the time when the qvd is generated. On the “Operations Monitor” app, on the other hand, there is, but task and app indicated are the ones that have been deleted....

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance

There is probably another app refreshing this QVD file.

Open the QVD file as an XML file - or even using a notepad - and you'll be able to see the CreatorDoc Tag. This will give you the ID of the Application that is creating this QVD file:

Hi Marksouzacosta, ID matches that of the app that was deleted...

Thanks

I would try things like rename the QVD to see if it gets generated from scratch.
Do you have a multi-node environment?

The qvd has already been renamed. It is recreated from scratch. The environment is multinode

Thank you

@AnaSilva have you faced this before? I think it is a problem in your multinode env., maybe even just an unusual delay to propagate the changes you did removing the app and task.

@stefano_marson , where is the qvd stored? I would definitely see with the IT architect if there's a backup/restore folder in place, that recognizes any changes to the files and recreates them.

Also, you mentioned that the app + reload task have been deleted. Have you tried reading the qvd in a new app to validate to which point-in-time is the data? That would signalize if it is just a file being restored from a backup routine, or another process synchronizing this qvd file.

Let me know if that helps you.

Hi AnaSilva, the qvd is regenerated every day at the same time. The qvd shows different modification date and time from day to day. So this is not a file from backup but generated and saved by a Qlik Sense application.

Thanks

I’d open a support case.

Have you checked for the same App ID and task on the other nodes? I know they are supposed to be in sync but that will be my last attempt.
