Qlik Storytelling - Every time a live data sheet is viewed in a story, these selections will be applied.

Hi Qliksters,

I am wondering if there is any workaround for my below problem. "Every time a live data sheet is viewed in a story, these selections will be applied." This is the tag that is shown on Qlik's storytelling feature when a developer wants to embed a live sheet. into their Qlik Story. Is there any way for a Qlik Story to be adaptable whereasin the Qlik story will represent the data and underlying charts based on current user selections?

My objective is to have an application where a Executive can view charts/visuals in the Qlik Sense App, but have the option to produce a Qlik Story based on their selections. Upon testing, all I can find out is that the sheet saves the selections I made when I developed the app.

It seems to me from a usability standpoint it should be a possibility for Qlik Stories to be adapted on the fly based on User Selections, but perhaps I am wrong? Are there any Extensions that can achieve this?

*If I find anything out, I will post solution to this page.

Thanks!

Chris

Hi @ckulp ,

I get your requirement, but unfortunately, Qliksense on hub doesn't have direct functionality to save the last access sheet.

Note : Qlik has provided the same functionality in the API.

Hi @ckulp ,

I am assuming that you are checking the story by clicking on the story tab. DO one more step ahead, try to play the story. you can see selected filters will be applied to the story

Hi @abhijitnalekar I appreciate the input. I am not sure I see that option to Play the Story outside of clicking on the Story tab. Am I mistaken?

Actually what I am trying to do is to embed a Navigation button within the application that takes the user to the Qlik Story brief. The only workaround I have found that potentially works, but has its downsides is adding a filter to each page in the Story which allows the user to select filters on the page. That is okay as a first step, but ultimately that isn't the best usability because the user needs to select on each and every slide in the Story, and would be great if it was automatically filtered for them.

Thanks,

Chris
