add field or edit it or rename it

Hello everyone,

I’ve been facing this problem for a while now, and every time I tried to work around it.

But now I really need to figure out why this is happening in my app.

When I try to add a new field, it won’t let me do it and shows the error as seen in the attached picture.

I also have a field where the name is missing, and when I try to edit it, I get the same error as shown in the picture!

Could this issue be related to how I associate the data? I have over 30 Excel tables, and each one contains the names of employees. All the tables were automatically associated with each other in a stacked format.

but this setup worked fine for a long time. I wonder if the issue is because there are more tables now.
Can anyone help me, please? I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Difficult to say without seeing the source data or the data model for the app... but I can speculate.

It might be that you have header rows in your Excel file, e.g. rows 1-3 of the file contain blank cells or general information... and your actual row headers are on row 4 and the data rows 5+, with the issue being that Qlik is trying to extract information from row 1.

Another possibility might be that merged cells are causing the issue.

Pl share data model image, source data format, script being used to help identifying, sample app cud be very useful if possible to be shared, in quickly identifying the issue.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I had the situation you mentioned, but I have now changed all the tables and deleted the first three rows. The header is now in the first row, and the data begins in the second row. However, this has not helped, and the problem remains the same.

As mentioned above, you'd need to share more specifics really, otherwise we can only guess. If you can share an image of the data model, load script, structure of source files etc, then it would be easier to diagnose the issue.

There is no limitation to load the data, you can load any number of files. To make the option “select data from source” is enable only if you select table that you want to edit/update the file.
