We are excited to announce the availability of the Qlik Analytics Modernization Program for our QlikView customers. Through the program you can leverage your investment in QlikView to adopt Qlik Sense with confidence, without disrupting QlikView. The Analytics Modernization Program gives QlikView users entitlement to Qlik Sense for a modest uplift on your annual QlikView maintenance rate. You choose licensing model, subscription or perpetual, and deployment type, SaaS or Client-Managed.
“In our drive for self-service analytics, Qlik Sense has been a breath of fresh air. We have managed to get users on board and up and running in a very short time period,” Bongani Mbatha, Analytics Manager, Woolworths.
The Analytics Modernization Program gives you the power to:
Expand analytics possibilities by adopting Qlik Sense to support the full range of analytics users and use cases through a single platform. From data preparation to visualization to exploration and collaboration, with Augmented Intelligence powered by our cognitive engine, you can accelerate time to insight and offer fresh perspectives. Support self-service visualization, deploy centrally-built applications, create custom analytics apps and mashups, enable mobile workforces, and more.
Adopt Qlik Sense at your own pace, while continuing to use QlikView without disruption – you may upgrade to the latest QlikView release to leverage newer functionality. Utilize free resources to expedite Qlik Sense adoption for new apps supporting modern use cases. Or, you can choose to migrate QlikView documents to Qlik Sense on your own timeline to modernize as your application requirements evolve. Plus, Qlik Customer Success and Partners provide consulting, education, and modernization services options.
Reduce Total Cost of Ownership for analytics by adding Qlik Sense vs. any other modern BI platform to your solutions portfolio. And, you can extend that savings with our Qlik Sense Enterprise SaaS deployment paired with unified licensing. Deploying on SaaS allows users to consume QlikView and Qlik Sense side-by-side on the same infrastructure managed by Qlik, using a single unified license with automated license and entitlement management through Qlik Licensing Service. At Neueda we love Qlik and maximising the use of publicly available data. Using data from the Official Charts website we've created a simple and fun way of identifying what songs were number one on your birthday, we also have added dynamic urls so that users can quickly go to YouTube to watch the music video of their song. Using the QAP we are able to make this accessible for everyone so that they can briefly escape the current Covid-19 reality.

Hi guys - in my recent post - Take a Tour of Our New Cloud-based editions of Qlik Sense - I gave you a tour of the various interface components and sections of our cloud-based editions of Qlik Sense. If you have not watched Part 1 and Part 2 yet, I suggest you do before watching this BONUS video. To recap, in the tour video I briefly touched on the topic of Spaces. Spaces are the way you secure, organize, manage and publish your Qlik Sense apps. I explained that there is waaaaay...more to be discussed on this topic and that it would be better if it had its own video. Well, that is what we have here today - this is your BONUS video that dives in a bit deeper to Shared and Managed Spaces.
Within the cloud-based editions of Qlik Sense we have not only introduced a new user experience with the Hub, but we also added new content management capabilities directly in the Hub where apps are stored, shared and published to what we call - Shared and Managed Spaces. Please note that this video is a bit longer than my normal videos, but well worth the watch as I cover Spaces, roles, permissions and demonstrate the results using various user accounts. Thanks for watching and please post your comments and questions below.
Regards,

You may already know that in February we launched our first ever Qlik Academic Program Datathon, in partnership with C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. The aim of the datathon is to get students to tackle a series of climate related challenges using data, and to present their solutions in Qlik Sense. The original plan was for the winning teams to come to our annual conference, QlikWorld, to showcase their proposals and for the overall winner to be selected, but unfortunately the universe had other plans! Due to the COVID-19 outbreak Qlik has taken the decision to cancel the in-person event, and to replace it with a virtual QlikWorld conference, QlikWorld Online, which will be taking place on June 24th and 25th. As the event is now due to happen a little later than originally planned, we have been able to extend the deadline for participation, to get even more students involved!
The new deadline for submissions is now May 1st and winners of each Challenge will be announced on May 8th. The winners for each challenge will receive a US$500 electronic gift card per person and will be given the opportunity to have their solution presented during QlikWorld Online. The overall winner will then be announced after QlikWorld Online and will receive an additional US$500 electronic gift card per person.
Remember, to enter you must be a University student and a member of the Qlik Academic Program. If you are not already a member you can sign up here. You can either enter as an individual or as a team of two people. Just remember, if you are working as a pair, both team members must register separately, and make sure you use the same “Team Name” on both registration forms.
As well as getting your hands on the main prizes, this is also a great opportunity to learn new skills, enhance your CV and to build your professional network with Qlik employees, customers, partners and climate experts. For more details and to sign up, please visit our Datathon registration page. We can’t wait to see all of your innovative ideas!
Hello everyone, today I have the pleasure of introducing Jeff Goldberg as our guest blogger - (jog) - Jeff is a Senior Enterprise Architect on the Americas Pre-sales team who has worked in various technology positions for over 15 years. In between running half-marathons and crushing crossfit workouts , Jeff focuses on integration, deployment, automation, security, and api topics across a wide range of software. If you have a technical challenge, Jeff can put you on a path to figuring out the best way to overcome it. Jeff has the extreme pleasure of introducing you to SAML authentication with Qlik Sense, not only in text - but as well in supporting videos. Thanks for this valuable contribution Jeff!
Qlik Sense SAML
With the release of Qlik Sense 2.0, we introduced SAML as an authentication option between enterprise identity management systems (known as identity providers) and Qlik Sense. While SAML is a standard for authentication and authorization, it is open to interpretation and variability in its implementation. Consequently, implementing SAML can be a bit tricky. The goal of this blog post is to demystify SAML and provide some examples you can use to implement it with Qlik Sense.
SAML stands for Security Assertion Markup Language, an xml based authentication and authorization standard for web applications to exchange user credentials and attributes. SAML works between two parties, an identity provider (IdP) and a service provider (SP), to facilitate single sign-on access to secure content for a user.
Identity providers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Salesforce.com, Active Directory Federation Services, and Ping Federate are just a few of the options available for handling the authentication components of the SAML handshake. The service provider is the system with the content we want to access. In this case, Qlik Sense is the service provider.
The figure below illustrates the SAML authentication process.
Keep in mind the SAML protocol is an open standard, therefore, implementing the solution between the SP and the IdP differs based on the requirements of the chosen provider.
For example:
Bottom line, expect some trial and error when configuring SAML, regardless if it’s with Qlik Sense or some other solution.
To ease the pain and hopefully reduce frustration, we have created some videos to help walk through configuring different SAML identity providers with Qlik Sense. As we encounter more flavors of IdP, we will create content to help with configuration.
For now, have a watch of the following videos, enjoy!
Hello Community Members, The months of February and March had the following updates made on Qlik Community:
1. Third Party Qlik Jobs - the page was cleaned up substantially with posts prior to 2019 archived. Two labels have been applied to the page "Jobs Available" and "People Available".
2. New group launched QlikView to Qlik Sense. This group supports supports customers taking advantage of our Analytics Modernization Program and provides Q&A, best practices and resources on migrating apps from QlikView to Qlik Sense.
3. Another group launched in support of COVID-19. All are welcome to share insights and sources of factual data.
4. NAV updates.
4a. New Icons were uploaded to the nav bar and home page for Data Analytics and Data Integration Forums.
4b. Insight Bot added to Navigation Menu, Qlik Sense Mobile shifted lower on Nav and one of the Qlik Sense forums has been renamed.
5. Modified search bar text to be location specific.
No change in functionality here. When searching within a specific location the search results will render results from that location. The text residing in the search box makes that more clear - two examples below
You have the option to expand search results by removing the search term using the ' x '.
2nd example:
If you need to expand your search option just remove the search term by clicking the ' x '.
6. Subscribe or Unsubscribe to blogs easily and with just one click from the main blog landing page.
7. View count now visible at the top level
You no longer have to click inside the post to see the view count. Also, view count, likes and comments are now displayed as an icon.
We hope you enjoy these updates!

Dear Qlik friends & family,
I’m very pleased to announce that one of our very favorite functions has been finally upgraded with a nice and longtime requested functionality. Aggr() virtual table is now sortable!
Note: For those of you not familiar with what Aggr() is and what can do for you, please review the following materials:
Despite the fact that we have been able to do some crazy stuff with Aggr(), every time we wanted to explore the possibilities of inter-record or range functions we faced a wall, Aggr() array of values couldn’t be sorted by any means. You couldn’t control how the data was ‘stored’ in the aggr() virtual table (load order by default) making it hardly usable for a variety of cases such as cumulative calculations, inter-record and range calculations, etc.
Aggr syntax used to be like:
Aggr({SetExpression}[DISTINCT] [NODISTINCT ] expr, dim{, dimension})
What's new?
From now on, we count in with a brand new Aggr() chart function that allows us to sort the resulting array (both in Qlik Sense 2.2 and QlikView 12*). The magic happens in the new StructuredParameter.
Syntax is now as following:
Aggr({SetExpression}[DISTINCT] [NODISTINCT ] expr, StructuredParameter{, StructuredParameter})
A StructuredParameter is a combination of a dimension, and optionally the all new sorting method.
StructuredParameter syntax is as follow:
1 StructuredParameter: (FieldName, (NUMERIC, ASCENDING))
2 StructuredParameters: (FieldName,(Field2Name,(FREQUENCY,DESCENDING)))
An Aggr() array can contain virtually anything so you have to specify what data type will be sorted within the array of data (numeric, text, frequency or Load_Order) and the sort criteria, basically ASC or DESC. I strongly recommend you to check the Aggr() help page and get familiar with the new syntax.
Real life example
Please read this blog post to discover a real usage scenario.
(...) I needed to capture the percentage and number of the gains and losses in a KPI object(...) In order for the Aggr() function to work as I expected, I needed to make sure the MonthYear field was sorted properly in ascending order so I handled this in my script. Note that if the MonthYear field was not in ascending order, the Above() function may not always return the previous month thus returning the wrong results.
Now, to solve Jennell's dilemma we could simply use Aggr() avoiding any extra steps such as sorting the data in the script and making our calculation fully dynamic.
max(aggr(sum(Members)-above(Sum(Members)), (MonthYear,(NUMERIC, ASCENDING))))
I would love to hear usage cases scenarios from you in the comments area. Where you guys plan to use this new capability?.
Enjoy Qliking,
AMZ
*Yes, it also works on QV12. Just ignore the syntax errors you will see in QlikView function editor.
UPDATED: For those of you looking for an expression as sorting parameter, good news, please check out HIC postRecipe for a Pareto Analysis – Revisited
Hello Qlik Users!
A few weeks ago, we released the Qlik Sense Installation Guide and the QlikView Installation Guide. The documents assist with installing Qlik Sense and QlikView from scratch, providing screenshots and articles for troubleshooting common issues that may arise.
We are happy to announce the Qlik Sense Upgrade Guide! This guide is similar to the other two guide but instead of focusing on a fresh installation, it focuses on the upgrade process. The Qlik Sense Upgrade Guide is based off the Help documentation and enhanced with screenshots and articles for common issues. The same format for the Qlik Sense installation guide is used to suggest articles for common issues:

This week our Qlik Community has reached a significant milestone - 100k members! Over the past year and a half, the Qlik Community has practically doubled in size and we have made countless UI/UX updates in the spirit of always improving. However, what makes me smile at the end of each day is knowing that there are many of you who take time out of your day simply to help another human being. That's what it's all about. People helping people.
This became glaringly obvious with the launch of a community COVID-19 group where we saw community participation from new members, longtime members, Qlik executives and many of our prominent luminaries. Thank you!
In a short timeframe we have onboarded many internal Qlikkies to our Qlik Community. This was just as important as onboarding our customers and partners! Most recently, we have:
I find it moving to witness, every single day, the coming together of people to collaborate online and help one another solve challenges big and small. Today, collaborating online carries more significance than ever before.
Whether you are a new customer, longtime customer, partner, die-hard Qlik fan, community MVP, developer, BI expert or prospect visiting our Qlik Community, we appreciate you and will never take your visit to our online destination for granted.
Thank you for allowing Qlik Community to be a part of your day and thank you for helping us achieve this amazing milestone.
See you online!
Melissa
In my continuing effort to highlight our valuable Qlik Community members, our partner network and their awesome solutions - I have the pleasure of introducing you to a brand new capability available within the Write! extension by Inform.
Section Access Management with Write!
Managing Section Access (Dynamic Data Reduction) in Qlik requires some manual effort via Qlik scripting within a Qlik Sense app. The overall concept can involve the use of inline tables to maintain the security, user data or externally defined security tables which can be accessed by various data connectors. Once implemented, section access requires that you reload the app as necessary.
Inform's extension, Write! (https://en.write.bi), now has an application directly in Qlik Sense that allows you to define, simulate and deploy your section access rules visually, with just a few clicks. You can create new Section Access rules, manage existing rules, deactivate invalid ones, automatically deploy them to an app - increasing speed and efficiency when managing Section Access on Qlik Sense apps.
Watch this brief video created by Thomas Gorr, Product Manager of Write! at Inform to learn more and see it in action:
For more information on this new capability please reach out to the Inform team info@write.bi.
Thank you Thomas for your contribution.
Do you have a valuable Qlik product contribution or solution? Contact me and I will share it on the Qlik Design Blog.

Hello Qlik Users!
I wanted to remind everyone that on Tuesday, March 31st, support for NPrinting 16 will come to an end. NPrinting 16 must be migrated to a newer version of NPrinting for continued product support as well as enhancements/fixes.
Eva posted a great blog last month that links to a number of resources that will help with the process; including information on the migration tool, a YouTube video and a Migration Playbook. Please review this information and work with your account team if needed to create a plan for migrating to a newer version of NPrinting.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!
Kind regards,
Qlik Global Support
