Video 7 - Creating a Shared Expression with the Variable Editor

This video walks you through:

  • Using the Variable Editor tool to define global / shared variables with a value that represent a QlikView measure expression and its associated label.
  • Updating a QlikView chart object to use those variables

This is a simple example of how you can define properties, colors, settings, metrics, dimension, labels, comments, etc. in this manner when using QDF. This approach can be applied to any QlikView setting that can accept variable input.

Does the Variable Editor automatically default to the "Set" statement if not defined?

Yes, without any statement SET will be the default.

LET will run evaluate() of the expression, if it fails SET will run instead.
