Does May 2022 IR upgrade Postgres when Upgrading Qlik Sense from a previous version?
I was reading through the Release Notes for May 2022, and I noticed that the upgrade instructions were different than May2021.
For May2021, to upgrade with an upgraded Postgres:
You had to backup your site, uninstall, install the new version, and then restore.
Steps can be found here: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Knowledge/Qlik-Sense-May-2021-Upgrade-bundled-PostgreSQL-to-12-5-versi...
I don't see anything describing this for May 2022 for upgrades:
https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-admin/May2022/Subsystems/DeployAdministerQSE/Content/Sense_DeployA...
When we ran an upgrade, it completed but Postgres was still 9.6.
I have been looking at posts like this one and was hoping there would be some automated way to upgrade the DB along with the server: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Deployment-Management/Is-it-possible-to-upgrade-Qlik-Sense-and-later-P...
Can anyone from Qlik clarify that to upgrade your DB you need to follow the same steps I posted there for May2021?
Thank you all very much.

The same steps to upgrade Postgres as mentioned below needs to be followed:

It is best practice to upgrade to May 2021 then May 2022.
There is a new tool which can install or upgrade postgres database. The tool is called Qlik PostgreSQL Installer (QPI) .

Hello @Qlik_Administrator_Dude ,
I was checking the release notes here and I am not sure to which part of them are you referring when mentioning:
"I was reading through the Release Notes for May 2022, and I noticed that the upgrade instructions were different than May2021"
Could you kindly clarify.
Cheers,
Albert

Hello Albert,
May 2021 has the walk through for the upgrade where you back up your system, unistall qlik, install the new version (which installs Postgres 12.x), and then restore to the Newly Installed Site.
I couldn't find any instructions for May2022 to do the same, but when I upgraded, it did not upgrade Postgres. I am assuming I need to do those steps to upgrade Postgres still. Is this true?
My second link references a tool that is 'Coming Soon' to make the upgrade of Postgres easier. Any word?
Thank you very much for the help!

Hello @Seanog_Murphy, @Qlik_Administrator_Dude,
The new tool should be released soon but we don't have yet an official ETA. We have currently found issues that we need to fix and re-test.
