Migration to new server

Hello everybody,

I have a qlik sense 3.2 server to upgrade at Qlik Sense February 2019 version.

My problems are:

  • impossibile to upgrade machine,  the qlik installed show me a message about corrupted installation
  • it's a prod env
  • I must preserve ALL the objects (apps, rules, data connections, sheets unpubblished, story, bookmarks)

Workaround:

  1. I prepare a new qlik server
  2. Make a clean install of Qlik Sense February 2019 version
  3. Backup from older server (where i have qlik sense 3.2)
  4. Restore into new server

Test: 0-zero impact for finally user.

I don't know who make a complete backup (and restore) with all qlik object pub and unpub.

Can you help me?

thk a lot

You may need to add an additional upgrade step if the final upgrade does not work.

We had this issue with PostgreSQL install failures.

See this:

https://support.qlik.com/articles/000062033

1 - create new server
2 - install 3.2 version on new server
3 - restore data

4. Upgrade new server to Upgrading first to June 2017

5- upgrade new server to Feb2019

The major problem, that i don't know, is who make a backup with all the qlik objects (apps, rules, data connections, sheets unpubblished, story, bookmarks).
In the guide there isn't a explicit info.
Is Qlik-Cli tools the way for resolution?

Hi,
According to me there is no need to go for some external tool. Also I don't knw how this Qlik Cli tool works but for backing up the whole Qliksense site you can follow the below link:

The following article show you detail steps, even it includes a video how to do so:

Thank you. It'is right for 3.2 version too?

Well I take that back, you are currently in 3.2, then it is best you move to new server as 3.2 and then upgrade to Feb19. Are you currently in shared persistence or sync persistence.

I'm in shared persistence.
So, the flow is:
1 - create new server
2 - install 3.2 version on new server
3 - restore data
4 - upgrade new server to Feb2019

it's ok?
Giuseppe_Novello

yes that would my best approach.
